Capsule Geology

The Huge South claims are primarily underlain by metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Permian to lower Jurassic Sitlika assemblage.

These bimodal volcanic rocks contain two distinct felsic volcanic cycles separated by intermediate tuffs and overlying mafic tuffs and flows. These volcanics are overlain by a sequence of sedimentary rocks that includes argillite, quartzite, wacke, conglomerate and limestone. A syn-sedimentary gabbro sill occurs at the volcanic/sedimentary interface.

Felsic and intermediate tuffs contain minor disseminated pyrite. The syn-sedimentary gabbro sill contains malachite, local minor chalcopyrite and rare bornite

Work History

Silt and soil geochemical surveys were undertaken in 2007 and 2008 by Amarc Resources on the Huge South property. A total of 1393 soil samples were collected. A total of 6.8 line-kilometres of brushing and Induced Polarization surveys were carried out in 2008 by Amarc. No previous work in the area is known to have been done.

In 2009, Amarc Resources collected 119 rock and 678 soil samples. They also completed 21.5 kilometres of Induced Polarization (IP) surveying. Soil sampling in 2009 confirmed and extended the approximately 5 kilometre long copper soil anomaly reported from the 2008 exploration program. The chalcopyrite-bearing gabbro sill is responsible for much of the copper geochemistry. Prospecting and rock sampling encountered only three of 119 samples with greater than 0.1 per cent copper (Assessment Report 31415). These were all taken from the gabbro sill. Some weakly anomalous Cu analyses were obtained from mafic and felsic volcanic rocks. The 2009 Induced Polarization survey outlined a strong chargeability high/resistivity low which spatially coincides with and is probably sourced from felsic volcanic rocks.

In 2012, Rokmaster Resources Corp conducted a 1 day reconnaissance in order to select drill hole sites for a planned drill program on the Bodine property (Assessment Report 34122). Prior to 2010, the property was divided into the Huge South and Olsen properties which were part of the Bodine Group of claims worked by Amarck between 2007 and 2009. Lorne Warren was the owner and vendor of the property to Rokmaster.
